Leashes & Leads

About Leashes

A leather leash is best for dog training. It’s easier on your hands, doesn’t slide out of your grip, and will last forever. They may cost a few dollars more than a nylon or cotton lead, but the benefits are worth it. We recommend choosing a leash that is 5 or 6′ long and no wider than 3/4" for large dogs,  1/2" for medium dogs, and 3/8" for small dogs. Should you prefer to shop for a decorative nylon leash, use the search boxes below to browse the hundreds of styles. A chain leash is never recommended.
